man, i just saw the departed and i absoutely loved it, especially alec baldwin. i must say, however, that i am not really looking forward to blood diamond. leo's accent is extremely bad and it just really doesn't seem that it would be all that interesting. your thoughts w?
I disagree about Leo's accent. The South African accent is a very strange accent, and since it is more or less unknown to Americans, I can see why it may cause some problems. In the preview, it sounds like a weird mix between a bad southern accent and some kind of pseudo-English accent. But it actually sounds very close to a South African accent. If you did not know what he was trying to do, I can see why you would think it was bad. But once you recognize it, I believe you will come around on the accent.

I always tend to dislike Jennifer Connelly, so I skipper her last couple films. I think I will probably see Blood Diamond though. Looks interesting.
Watching the trailer, I got sort of a "Constant Gardner" vibe. And that can only be a good thing.

well, it makes sense, being that i thought it was a "weird mix between a bad southern accent and some kind of pseudo-English accent." i dunno, im sure that i will end up seeing it and probably thinking its pretty good. maybe my anticipation of the departed clouded my mind into thinking that everything else was terrible.
