Or rather, I shoud say, I mean

Two brand new Bush quotes, now with analysis (in bold)!

George W. has a tendency to interrupt himself. The result is an incoherent mess:
  • "Governor Perdue of Georgia I thought did a -- showed some leadership by saying we've got to -- anticipating a problem, here's what we need to do to correct it. There's going to be some -- by the way, and here's what we have done and will continue to do." - Sep. 26, 2005

George W. often corrects himself when he misspeaks, but he does not say "I mean" or "Or rather" or "I should say" to indicate his self-correction. The result is an incoherent mess:
  • "And so while there's a shortfall because of down refining capacity, we will work with -- we have instructed EPA to leave the rules in place, or to suspend the rules that were in place, keep the suspension in place, which would make it easier to increase supply, and continue to get supply of gasoline here. And that's important for our consumers to know." - Sep. 26, 2005

Disclaimer: I realize that people misspeak. Everyone does it. In these particular cases, very slight errors cause big problems. I know that obviously a person's misstatements do not necessarily make him/her a bad leader. I have never claimed they do. I admit it: these "bushisms" are just fun to make fun of, in a petty, partisan way.

So again,
a person's misstatements do not necessarily make him/her a bad leader.*

* A person's blundering misjudgments, blatant lies, arrogant self-righteousness, and hypocritical obliviousness, however, might make him/her a bad leader.

Yes, Tom, but if you are aligning with Adam Sandler, it looked awfully close to Democrat to me, at least for your liking.

And yes, take responsibility. I actually originally wrote "Disclaimer (for Tom)" but I wanted it to be more universal.

At least you aren't a member of the feared religious right. They scare me soo much. People who are conservative just because they are christian.

Or we could toss separation of religion and state out the window and go the German way, where the conservative party is called the "Christian Democratic Union."
