Missionary Only

At the beginning of each school year, I ask my students to write me a little letter in which they address their own expectations for the year. I want to hear what kind of teachers they like, what kind of classroom atmosphere they prefer, what qualities they don't like in a teacher, etc.

One sophomore boy wrote what I think was supposed to say something along the following lines: "I don't like it when teachers have a gender bias." That's what I think he meant to say. That's what I hope he meant to say. Instead, he wrote, "I don't like teachers who favor one type of sex."
