Poor twisted child, so ugly

Each year, as soon as I realize that it is November 1, the Morrissey song "November Spawned a Monster" pops into my head, and it remains there all day. I suppose I could have Guns N' Roses on the brain (" . . . 'Cause nothin' lasts forever, and we both know hearts can change"), but no-- Morrissey it is.

Of all the songs ever written about an ugly, crippled girl who is so pitiful that no one will ever love her, let alone kiss her, "November Spawned a Monster" is obviously the best.

So when I got home from class after having sung the song all day in my head, I knew I had to track down the video, which I had not seen for a long time before today. I just remembered that it shows Morrissey rolling around in the desert, spreading his writhing foppishness to every rock and crag. (There is a humorous discussion thread on the YouTube page arguing that by simply watching the video, every male, regardless of orientation, becomes homosexual for the 5:22 duration. That may be overstating it a bit.)

But truly, I love this weird song.

Even though the subject made me sad for my fellow November children, the "writhing foppishness" cheered me up.

When November arrives I always listen to the song of the same name, by Duncan Sheik.
