Ready the ark

Today was a crazy day at work. Though we had a pretty good thunderstorm and rain in Chicago, up north in Lake Forest, a deluge fell from the sky.

While just about everyone at the high school lives within 15 minutes of the school, about half of the student body could not get to school until 2nd or 3rd period because so many roads were closed by flooding. Some students (and quite a few faculty members) took hours to get to school, so the morning was pretty much a bust.

A few of my colleagues got trapped in the water, and one friend even submerged his car. Several students in each of my classes had flooded basements as well.

I'm very glad I take the train to work.
