The sheer humiliation of your teenage station

I am very excited about the release of R.E.M.'s new single, "Supernatural Superserious." First, it is R.E.M., so of course I am excited. Second, the video is out now:

So, about the video: R.E.M. has set up a website for the song and video, which features full versions of all of the different video components/shoots/angles that make up the official video.

Some favorite parts:
#4 and #9, in which the band plays an acoustic version whilst riding around in a cab
#6, #7, and #8, in which the band plays an acoustic version in some sort of cafe/wine shop (shot from different angles)
#11, in which the text of the song scrolls across the screen

And apparently, one can download the component parts and mix together a brand new video and submit it to YouTube.

Now, the song: I love it. I have not been this excited about an R.E.M. single for years and years. The song hearkens back to some good old days of the band, when Peter Buck jammed on the guitar, Mike Mills sang back-up, and Michael Stipe had fun. I love the melody, the lyrics, and the jangly beat. I agree with Erik that this is one of best R.E.M. offerings in a long time.

Oh, and they are touring (with Modest Mouse and The National opening) at the beginning of the summer. Woohoo!

The R.E.M./National/Modest Mouse show would be great to go to, even if I didn't like MM's or R.E.M.'s latest albums.
