The end of an era
I have been suffering through a long and miserable bout of shitty phone disease. While I have never had any problem with Sprint, and in fact I have, in general, been quite happy with my service, I had long had my eye 0n the iPhone. But I was in the middle of a long Sprint contract, and I did not want to lose money by having huge cancellation fees.
And I could have gotten a better interim phone while I waited for my contract to expire, but I also thought that buying a temporary phone was also a waste of money. So I waited. And I waited. With this phone:
Yes, it has antenna. It is 2009, and I have been using a flip phone with an antenna. A broken antenna at that:
My friends could not believe that I had such a crappy phone. "John," they'd say, "You're so tech savvy and hip in every other way. Why don't you have a better phone." (Oh, they said it.) My friend Katie got visibly angry whenever she saw my phone. Several times on the train on the way to or from work, Katie indicated her desire to crush my phone with a hammer.
But . . . my Sprint contract ended yesterday. I now I have the 3GS:
And I'm so glad I waited. I'm thinking about making a medallion (like Flava Flav) out of my old phone.

you can only wear the medallion phone if you also promise to run around yelling your name while wearing a viking helmet
DJ Wang!
wv: Suntar
def 1: An instrument that sounds just like a sitar only it's made of solar flares
def 2: A centaur... with fire genitals
def 3: An airport in Russia
I do all that anyway. The medallion will just be an extra flourish.
