ABC News Brief

My "History of Film" professor is like a shrunken version of Sam Donaldson -- same hair, same voice, same blazer. But he's 5'4". It is an interesting thing to be back on the other side of the desk.

Here's a t-shirt I saw:

And here's another, much different one, for those of you who follow the news:

Find other (much more offensive shirts) here. There are some pretty awful shirts there, but they make me laugh.

Yet another great victory in the "War on terror."

But does it come in those Charmin double roll thingies which enable you to change the tp apparently half as much. That is important for the convenience of people everywhere.

That shirt coulda saved me about $18. I bought it at Target so it was discounted.

Response to the message you left on MY blog:

More to the point, did you think that those two people could live WITHIN AN HOUR OF EACH OTHER? I'm in the Quad Cities, which is just a quick hop down I-88 from Dekalb. The blog you stumbled on is the "official" web home of the newspaper column I write weekly out here. I actually also run a site geared towards (mostly UK) indiepop music called Excellent Online (www.excellentonline.com) - you should check it out.

And if you're ever up for car-pooling to a show in Chicago, just say the word. Whenever I go to a gig, I have to drive right thru Dekalb...

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are coming to Chicago Metro in a month, and Mark Gardener from Ride is opening... and DEFINITELY if you're a fan of the Boo Radleys and like-minded poppy stuff, DEFINITELY go see the Athens band OF MONTREAL when they play in Dekalb in a couple weeks, I'll definitely be at that gig.

Anyways, nice to meet ya and all that, and good to know that Martin Carr has more than one fan in Illinois ;) Stay in touch whenever - my e-mail is sbrown@qconline.com.

Don't know them. But not many shows come to DeKalb, so I may check it out. Not that I don't trust your judgement!

"Of Montreal suck ass live"?!?!?!

WHAAAAAA?????

This is a band that I have seen live at LEAST 15 times now... and they are SO brilliant.

Every once in a while they put on a tour remiss of fun stuff where they just go and work out new songs, and yeah, it's not the most exciting time out or anything. They're not the tightest band on the planet, but good lord, worst show EVER????

Usually an Of Montreal gig involves, at the very least: plays, skits, costume changes, and a really fun cover or two. And music this poptastic doesn't come along but every once in a while.

I've never known ANYONE to think they suck live, fo real. I know you guys don't know me from Adam, but geez, I'm a huge music nerd and just know that I plan on seeing them at least twice on this leg of their tour...
